Posted in Juliet series, News on June 21st, 2009
Recently I’ve been experimenting with painted backgrounds and looser styles of drawing. This series of portraits of my daughter-in-law, Juliet Cook, were inspired by her unique self-portrait photographs. Not only is her subject beautiful, but her ability to obtain such varied looks using different angles, hairstyles and expressions make her compositions a joy (and a challenge) to draw. Thanks, Juliet, for sharing your talents and allowing my imperfect interpretations of them.

This portrait of Aeslinn is helping raise funds for the Edwardsville Arts Center. It’s being shown as an example of my portrait work and I’ve donated a free ($200 value) portrait to be auctioned off at the EAC’s 2009 annual fundraising dinner at Neruda’s Restaurant. Can’t wait to put up the resulting portrait. I’ll keep you posted.
Charcoal portrait $100 matted, unframed; $200 framed
